CHOIR NOTES
by ELLIOT BURMAN
The choir continues to serve the community by adorning the Shabbat and Yom Tov services to the best of our ability. In spite of the usual throat ailments which always afflict choristers in the autumn, we accompanied Rabbi Shisler and Chazan Lawson throughout the Yomim Noraim.
Comments about choral services appeared in the correspondence section of the London Jewish News from disgruntled in Hendon who disliked choirs lengthening services with unfamiliar and badly sung tunes. I replied that it was a pity that he did not attend our services as we receive many compliments.
Our Synagogue had the honour of being selected for a choral Shabbat morning service to be featured as part of the Bnai Brith Music Festival. That same Shabbat was also the Bar Mitzvah of Maxwell Nye and we sang a new arrangement of Ein Kelohanu with him. We have sung this new arrangement since then with Maxwell and its always a great pleasure to sing with this angelic-voiced young man.
We wish you all a Kosher Pesach and continue to welcome your comments and participation with us in the services, in praise of Hashem.
