EDITORIAL

This Pesach sees the beginning of a new look magazine. I hope that you find it as interesting and enjoyable as I have. Keep in mind that this magazine is for the community by the community. Your contributions, features and letters are a necessity. Please feel free to contact me if you feel that we need to cover any particular aspect of synagogue life, community or topical issue.

It is with great pleasure tinged with regret that we offer a warm welcome to the New West End to all of our new friends who have joined us from Hammersmith and West Kensington Synagogue.

We very much appreciate that you have decided to choose our wonderful Synagogue to be your new spiritual home and look forward to getting to know you all personally. Our regret is of course the sadness of the closure of your own Synagogue, with its glorious history and traditions. Unfortunately, the ravages of time took their toll on the fabric of your Synagogue and you were forced to take the heart-rending, but only practical decision of having to close.

We are sure that your presence amongst us will contribute to the restoration of our own Synagogue to its former glory, toward which our own Rabbi and Mrs Shisler, within only one year, are already making such impressive progress.

May you all enjoy good health and be with us for many fruitful years ahead.

Those of our congregants who were in shul on the first Shabbat in February I’m sure will agree with me that the sight of 20 children ascending the steps to the bimah to sing with Chazan Lawson was a sight to behold. Our children’s service has recommenced after a break of many years. With grateful thanks to Joseph Fisher and Toni Rosenfeld the services got off to a promising start. We hope that your children and grandchildren will wholeheartedly support this new initiative as our children are our future.
