Passover Chametz Seder Charoset

Old Haggadah - Anonymous

It’s an old, old book.

It stands on the shelf

I know that I cannot read it myself

But I like to hear about this book,

Which is called Haggadah.

I eagerly look at the yellowing leaves

And the deep brown stains

While Grandpa holds me close and explains

How drops of wine through year after year

Have splattered the pages

Now there and now here.

From the Kiddush cup in an ageing hand

As the wine was blessed in a far off land

If the old Haggadah had eyes and ears

It could tell of Sedarim of years and years,

From Grandpa’s Grandpa

this old book came

he read from it by a candle flame.

And now, with eyes of wonder

I look, at Great Great Grandpa’s

Passover book!
